Thaddeus (Ted) Smith 1919-2012
Ted Smith was a former resident of Roaming Shores, residing with his daughter Mary, and her husband Dick Sober. Ted had a circle of close friends here, and will be greatly missed. Ted was a regular at our Wed. morning breakfast of the “ROMEOs”.

Thaddeus “Ted” R. Smith, age 92, died at Salem Community Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Nov. 5, 1919.
A Veteran, Ted served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to World War II. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and then in the U.S. Army after the war.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Smith, after 55 years of marriage. Ted leaves three children, two daughters, Doris Mae Cook of Dewitt, Mich., and Mary Jane Sober of Sebring, Ohio; and son, Lary F. Smith of Troy, Mont.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Following Ted’s wishes, a private committal of his ashes will be held at a later date.

The Village of Roaming Shores seeks a seasonal full-time laborer to join its utility department between May 21 and August 31, 2012. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, experience with power equipment, a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
The successful applicant will submit to drug & alcohol screening and comply with a smoke free work environment policy. Compensation is $10.00 per hour.

The Rome Township Volunteer Fire Department is offering free reflective address signs to Roaming Shores residents. There are about 100 free signs available.
Residents are encouraged to have reflective address signs as they aide the fire department in finding addresses at night and help to increase response time.
Address signs are required by the Village of Roaming Shores Ordinances.
Call the Rome Fire Department at (440) 563-3990 if you would like a sign. If there is no answer, please leave a message.
The Fire Department also has batteries for most smoke detectors, if you are in need of one.
