Christmas in the Shores

Breakfast with Santa

Wow the Holidays are approaching fast! That means it is time for Breakfast With Santa, hosted by the Polar Bear Club.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 9 am to 11 am at the Clubhouse, located at Beach 1.  We would like to invite you to come have breakfast with Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas!  Every child will receive a gift from Santa when he arrives at 9:30 am.  You can also join in our other Christmas activities including decorating an ornament to take home.  The party is free to all children and grandchildren of Roaming Shores residents, age 12 and under.

We will be serving pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and mixed fruit. We will also have an assortment of beverages.

Registration is required with a cutoff date of Saturday, Dec 3rd.

When registering, please leave all of the following information:

  1. Number of Adults
  2. Number of Children
  3. Name, age, and gender of each child.

The Polar Bear Club will send an email conformation that you are registered for the event within 48 hours.

Halloween in Roaming Shores 2016

halloweenHalloween in Roaming Shores will be on Saturday, October 29th. Trick or Treating will take place between 5pm – 7pm.

After trick-or-treating, come join us at the Clubhouse for a Halloween Happening! We will be playing a movie and will have treats and refreshments. The Roaming Shores Police Department will be grilling up hotdogs!
This is a free event for all of the little ghosts and goblins in the Shores (their family, too!)

If you would like to donate candy for treat bags, please drop it off at either the RRA or RSV offices. Thank you!

Clam Bake & Chicken Dinner Oct. 15, 2016

clamsThe Roaming Shores Fishing Club will be having a Clam Bake & Chicken Dinner on Saturday. October 15th from 3pm – 5pm at the Clubhouse.

1 Dozen Clams and 1/2 Chicken $25
Extra Clams $10/Dozen
Chicken Dinner $18

Includes Bread, Coleslaw, Yam or White Potato Baked, Corn on the Cob, Clam Chowder, and Cake for Dessert

Fish Fry – September 24th

On Saturday, September 24th, the Fishing Club will be having a Fish Fry at Clubhouse starting at 6pm. Tickets will be $10 per person. Roaming Shores Fish will be served with a baked potato, coleslaw, and light refreshments!

This is a BYOB event.

Promotion Club Wine & Cheese Social

wineThis Saturday, join the Promotion Club as we sample wines from some of our local wineries! Light appetizers will be provided.

Please feel free to bring an appetizer to share or your own wine to sample.

Couples Fishing Tournament

couples tournamentThe Fishing Club is sponsoring a mixed couples pan fish contest. Husband – wife, mother – son, grandfather – granddaughter, boyfriend – girlfriend, etc.

Anyone interested should be at the Clubhouse dock at 9am on August 13th. There will be a $20 signup fee per boat. All of the entry money will be going towards to the winner plus $100 donated by the Club. This is a pan fish only event – Blue gill, perch, crappie, and rock bass. Any size fish will do. All the fish will be donated to the club for our next Fish Fry.

Fishing Club News – July 2016

June and July were very busy months for the Fishing Club. We had the Kids Fishing Day, a 50th Anniversary Bass Contest, an All Species Fish Tournament, a Fish Fry, and a Garage Sale!

The Kids Fishing Day was a great success. We had 29 kids participate, they caught 91 fish. Following the contest, there was a hotdog and pizza lunch. The Club gave out 45 prizes and 2 kayaks were given out as grand prizes. We would like to thank our 21 sponsors who donated money to make it a great success.

The 50th Anniversary Bass Contest had 7 boats enter. After 3 hours of fishing, Al Rubosky took 1st place with a 4.18lb bass, Nathan Kristoff took 2nd place with a 3lb bass and Jon Klein took 3rd place with a 2.38lb bass.

July 9th was our Jack Cone All Species Contest.

The Winners were:

The Big Fish of the Month for June was caught by David Ray, a large mouth bass 21.5” long.

The Club would like to thank anyone who donated items for the Garage Sale, we made $811!

We had a Fish Fry July 15th. 60 people attended and consumed 150 fish donated by the Club members.

Our next event will be a mixed Couples Tournament on Saturday, August 13th at 9am at the Clubhouse. The weigh-in will be at 12pm at the Marina followed by a hotdog lunch.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration – July 1st – July 3rd

50th anniv logoThe RRA’s 50th Anniversary Committee is hard at work preparing for the big celebration this summer. The 50th Anniversary will be celebrated from Friday, July 1st until Sunday, July 3rd. Don’t miss out!

The Celebration will kick off in the evening on Friday, July 1st with opening ceremonies inside the Clubhouse at 5:30pm. Free hotdogs at Beach 1 will begin at 6pm. Also on Friday evening, we will be hosting a dance. DJ Brendan Cain will be returning! He has a wide variety of playlists for almost any age group. It should be a great time for all!

Saturday, July 2nd will be a very busy day! It all will kick off in the morning at 10am with Jungle Terry, a King and Queen Contest, and Kids Games. The annual Jason Scribben Memorial Volleyball Tournament will be held at the court at Beach 1. Come check out the Safety House and Rescue Squad displays in the Clubhouse Parking lot!

In the evening, we will be hosting a Hawaiian Luau at the Clubhouse. The Luau will feature authentic Hawaiian cuisine with hula and fire dancing on the beach. The committee will be selling tickets to the dinner; there are only 200 tickets available. Tickets are $20 each and available from Committee Members and at the RRA Office The Dinner portion of the Luau is SOLD OUT!

The entertainment portion of the Luau on the beach will be free and open to all members in good standing, their families, and friends.

Saturday will also be the Fireworks night! This year should be a great show in honor of our 50th anniversary!

But we’re not done yet; Sunday, July 3rd will bring even more fun! It will begin in the morning with our first family fun mini triathlon! This event is open to members, their families, and friends and can be entered as an individual or a 2-3 person team. Registration form available here. You can register at the RRA Office. The Mini Fun Triathlon will include a 160 yard swim at beach 1, a 5.75 mile bike ride, and a 2 mile run. It will all begin and end at the Clubhouse.

Also on Sunday will be a sand sculpture contest, a Fishing Tournament, a Boat and Jetski Parade (registration required), and our traditional East vs. West Tug-of-War!

There will also be 50/50, merchandise sales, and other fun events all celebration long. Mark your calendars! Don’t miss out on the celebration!
