The Roaming Shores Fishing Club recently completed the installation of fish habitat structures in areas of the lake more than 12 feet deep, advancing an important conservation project aimed at improving habitat for local fish populations. The submerged structures create places for fish to hide, feed, and reproduce, contributing to the overall health of the lake. Members Mike Chevalier, Joe Morgan, Tim Kalish, Dwight McDonald, Larry Pisarick, Chris Plickert, Bob Schmidt, and Scott Emick took part in the assembly and deployment effort. The habitat plan and the locations of the structures were approved by the Rome Rock Association and the Lake Management Committee.
The project was initiated by Al Rubosky, whose dedication to the Fishing Club and the lake helped set the effort in motion. Though Al is no longer with us, he is sorely missed by the club, and members view the work as part of the legacy he left behind. The next Roaming Shores Fishing Club meeting is scheduled for May 4.
