Last week, the RRA staff and Board honored Mark Drda with a retirement party celebrating his upcoming retirement at the end of the year after an incredible 42 years with the RRA Maintenance Department!
Mark began working for the Association on April 30, 1984. By the time he officially clocks out for the last time on December 31, 2026, he will have given the RRA 42 years, 8 months and 1 day of service. An incredible 15,585 days, or 2,226 weeks.
To put that in perspective, when Mark started, a gallon of regular gas averaged about $1.13, a First-Class stamp cost 20 cents, Police Academy was at the top of the weekend box office, and there were no smartphones, Google or even the World Wide Web. A lot has changed since 1984, but through it all, Mark has been a familiar and dependable presence at the RRA.
Over more than four decades, Mark has played an important role in maintaining and improving Association property throughout Roaming Shores, helping keep our facilities, grounds and infrastructure in good working order through every season.
Forty-two years with one organization is a remarkable accomplishment, and Mark leaves behind a legacy that can be seen throughout the community. The Clubhouse, our amenities and RRA are better because of his many years of hard work and dedication.
Beginning January 1, Mark’s new assignment is a well-earned one: enjoy retirement, spend more time with family and friends, and maybe get in a little more hunting without having to submit a vacation request first!
Congratulations, Mark, and thank you for 42 incredible years of service to the RRA and the Roaming Shores community!
