Algal Toxin Retest Results

In response to the high algal toxin reading reported Thursday, we worked with our Lake Advisor to retest the two beaches. This was only done for the algal toxins; the bacteria test was not repeated. The results show that BOTH Beach 1 and Beach 2 are now below the EPA Advisory limit for algal toxin (microcystin). Based on the rapid change in results after only three days, it is now suspected that the previous high value was the result of a sampling error, but we cannot confirm this independently. After discussing the test results with our Advisor, they suggest that we remove the Advisory signs and return to a normal lake condition. It is still advisable for everyone to avoid contact with an active algal bloom anywhere on the lake. This is especially true for those most susceptible, including small children, those who are immune compromised, and pets. Enjoy your weekend.

Testing is conducted at the two beaches on Monday morning of the designated week. Results may not indicate the conditions on the lake at other locations or times. Bacterial levels may be elevated following a rain event. It is also advisable to avoid direct contact with an active algal bloom.
