Weed Harvester Protocol

We had a mild winter and a sunny spring with little rain in the last couple weeks, perfect conditions to foster weed growth in the lake.

If weeds are becoming a problem in your channel or cove, please call the Association Office at 440-563-3170 and we will add your lot to our list. Please ensure that your lot number is visible from your dock, this is a big help for our maintenance department. You must call each time weeds become a problem in your channel. The maintenance department has many tasks throughout the summer and only take the harvester out when problem areas are identified.

The RomeRock Association’s policy on its use of the weed harvester is to maintain an open channel for boats to pass through. Clearing out weeds around individual docks is a time consuming operation and the harvester is not an efficient tool for this type of work. Maneuvering the weed harvester too closely to docks risks damage to docks, nearby watercraft, and the harvester itself.

Removal of shoreline vegetation is the responsibility of the property owner. Rakes or contacting AquaDoc are better options to remove weeds from around docks and seawalls.
