RSCPC Pantry Update

As many of you may remember, when COVID began the Roaming Shores Community Preparedness Club (RSCPC) with the help of Denny Crandall and Howard Tuttle established two free community pantries at the Clubhouse and at Pool Two. The pantries were quickly and generously stocked by the residents of Roaming Shores. At one point, the shelves at Pool Two were so full the pantry literally collapsed! Anyone in the area in need of groceries for any reason was welcome to help themselves. Some residents even donated home sewn masks and children’s books and toys. All of these items found useful homes with appreciative neighbors. As the weather warmed up, it was not possible to continue leaving food in the pantries. Michelle and Craig at the Pasta Oven kindly stepped in to offer space in the restaurant’s foyer to house the pantry.

Today, nearly a year after quarantine began, the free pantry is still in use at the Pasta Oven. Members of the RSCPC regularly check the shelves, and the employees at the Pasta Oven are happy to run outdoors to accept curbside donations of non-perishable food items if you do not want to get out of your car! Anyone in the area who needs groceries is welcome to help themselves. Please limit your donations to non-perishable items within their expiration dates…no homemade or alcoholic items, please!

The free community pantry is available whenever the restaurant is open (Monday – Friday 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM).
