Letter to the Editor

I want to clarify a few things that were reported in the October issue of The Shore News. In the article about updating the lake rules there were some statements by me that were said during the comments section of the meeting, not by me representing  the Lake Safety Committee, but as a resident. The concerns of my neighbors and me go back to a petition that I presented to the Board in September of 2015 requesting some marker buoys to define the 75 foot no-wake zone for about eight houses around  the 2200 area. There are several “pinch points” on BOTH sides of the lake where neighbors have problems with boaters cutting in too close to the shoreline, creating damage to their property. I have personally talked to at least three people with the same problems that our section has. The Board has not said yes or no for two years now and said I should take it up with the Village, so I will. The Village has the 20 foot rule, but the Association currently sets out the buoys, we’ll see! If anyone wants to add their particular “pinch point” to my list, I will attempt to be an advocate for you also. Call me, 216.906.2301.

The other topic I would like to clarify is that I stated last fall that I would no longer facilitate a Safe Boating Class, so there was nothing offered in spring of 2017 and there will be no future offerings by me. You will have to make it your responsibility to find a class either on-line or an in-person class to acquire a boat license. Anyone born on Jan 1,1982 or after must have a State license to operate a watercraft in Ohio. It is State law, there is no other way I can tell you this!

Respectfully,

Bruce C. Bower
