With Sympathy: David F. Sanner

David F. Sanner, age 71, of Fairview, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, on July 11, 1943, the son of the late David Scott and Ruth Walker Sanner.

David graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He was branch manager and account executive at Johnson Controls for 37 years. He was a member of the Good Guys Car Club and the Ohio AMC Car Club and participated in many local car shows with his Javelin and Gremlin. David was a past president of the Presque Isle Rotary, where he was involved with community fundraising, including Presque Isle Days pancake breakfasts. He was a trustee of Fairview Presbyterian Church and helped coordinate the Fairview Presbyterian Car Clinic Ministries. He was “project coordinator” of the Fellowship Hall building project and volunteered picking up food for the church food pantry. He loved breakfast outings at local diners with friends. He will also be remembered for being an avid family sports fan, attending his son’s and granddaughters’ soccer games and events.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Michael Sanner in 2007; and a sister, Mary Kay Baer.

David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gail Mandusky Sanner; a son, Jeffrey David Sanner and his wife, Janine; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Jayme Sanner; a sister, Marjorie Brose of Howard, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, in Girard, on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church, 4264 Avonia Rd., Fairview, with Reverend Chuck Cammarata officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
