{"id":5715,"date":"2016-10-07T13:01:03","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T17:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/?p=5715"},"modified":"2016-10-07T13:01:03","modified_gmt":"2016-10-07T17:01:03","slug":"fire-prevention-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/2016\/10\/07\/fire-prevention-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Prevention Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: Chief Ed Koziol, President<br \/>\nAshtabula County Fire Chief\u2019s Association<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ashtabula County Fire Chief&#8217;s Association, State Fire Marshall asks \u201cWhat can you do\u201d to prevent fires?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fire is everyone\u2019s fight, and that\u2019s why the Ashtabula County Fire Chief\u2019s Association, in conjunction with the State Fire Marshal\u2019s office, is asking Ohioans to think of one thing they can do to prevent or prepare for a fire.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWhat can you do?\u201d social media campaign will highlight pledges to take action when it comes to fire safety. Fire officials throughout the state are encouraging Ohioans to take the pledge and post a photo on their social media accounts and use the hashtag #WhatCanYouDo or send it to your local fire department.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/wp-content\/uploads\/fire-prevention.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5716\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/wp-content\/uploads\/fire-prevention.png\" alt=\"fire-prevention\" width=\"250\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/wp-content\/uploads\/fire-prevention.png 457w, https:\/\/www.roamingshores.org\/RRA1\/wp-content\/uploads\/fire-prevention-150x100.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 85vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>\u201cWe want to use this as a way to get everyone thinking about what they can do to be fire safe at home,\u201d State Fire Marshal Larry L. Flowers said. \u201cA proactive approach will help eliminate fire risks in your home, making you and your family safer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also important to make sure you\u2019re prepared in the unfortunate case of a fire,\u201d Chief Ed Koziol said. \u201cPracticing your fire escape plan and making sure you have working smoke alarms in your home can help protect you if your home does catch fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This campaign will kick off during Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2016. The national theme is \u201cDon\u2019t Wait \u2013 Check the Date!\u201d which encourages everyone to check the manufacture date on their smoke alarms. If the date on your alarm is more than ten years ago, the entire unit needs to be replaced.
