That time of year again\u2014late in December.
\nMy time to resolve (and then to remember)
\nTo do those things which in my mind
\nWill improve the world and humankind.<\/p>\n

Some resolutions I\u2019ll keep to myself\u2014
\nBetter they stay on my private shelf.
\nAnd others would not interest you much,
\nThey relate to my family, my friends and such.<\/p>\n

But two I\u2019ll share for our village\u2019s sake;
\nThey concern our greatest resource\u2014our lake.
\nSo here they are, presented in rhyme
\nWith the hope that when you have some time
\nYou\u2019ll make \u201clove the lake\u201d resolutions of your own
\nAnd the seeds of a healthier lake will be sown.<\/p>\n

One<\/span>
\nIf against farmland runoff we shall ever make progress
\nWe need to move members of our Ohio congress.
\nSo my first resolution to make the lake better
\nIs to write each of my reps a well worded letter
\nThat asks them to support any proposed legislation
\nSeeking to regulate farmers\u2019 use of fertilization
\nIn the watershed that feeds our Roaming Rock Lake.
\nHow much time could that letter writing take?<\/p>\n

Two<\/span>
\nIf you haven\u2019t heard yet, you may hear it soon\u2014
\nNo, not the latest pop hit from I-Tune,
\nBut a plan from the Lake Management Committee
\nFor better testing to keep our lake healthy and pretty.
\nMy resolution is to get involved with this plan
\nTo learn, to get trained, to do what I can.
\nI\u2019ll watch for info in the news and website
\nAnd jump in when it\u2019s time to do what is right.<\/p>\n

So there you have it\u2014my two for \u201cThe Shores.\u201d
