The attachment is a summary of the Choctaw Lake community.<\/p>\n<p>It is an example of another Ohio Lake community and not a list of recommendations for our Lake.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Choctaw Lake\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>General Description\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Established 1964, 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary last year.<\/li>\n<li>250 acre dammed lake<\/li>\n<li>Located between Columbus, Dayton, Springfield, and Marysville<\/li>\n<li>1064 lots<\/li>\n<li>870+ homes\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>Lakefront and offlake appeared to be well built out<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Population about 1300<\/li>\n<li>Lake Front Lot Value, ~$150K\n<ol>\n<li>Lots appear larger than typical lot at RS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Off-lake Lot Value, $20K and up.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Boating\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>No boat fees<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Water and Sewer\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Water provided by a utility owned by Choctaw<\/li>\n<li>Sewer provided by the Madison County Sewer District<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Facility Rental (details available on the Choctaw website)\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Clubhouse\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>12,000 sq ft. Three part-time officers<\/li>\n<li>Police are deputies of the County Sheriff<\/li>\n<li>Cost $250,000\/year, including salaries &amp; benefits, cars, patrol boat, gas, maintenance<\/li>\n<li>24\/7 security, members want high security and are willing to pay for it.\n<ol>\n<li>Last burglary, 13 years ago<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Patrol boat has own boat house with lift\n<ol>\n<li>Built with maintenance staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Biggest problem \u2013 road speeders\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>13 miles of roads<\/li>\n<li>They have a trailer mounted speed control radar, \u201cyour speed is\u201d, with a speed limit sign.<\/li>\n<li>Police hand out tickets<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Office\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Located near Clubhouse.<\/li>\n<li>? sq ft.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>General Demeanor\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Residents that I spoke to were very pleased with Choctaw.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Dredging\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Additional lakes dredging\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Choctaw<\/li>\n<li>Holiday Lakes\n<ol>\n<li>Quote for contractor mechanical dredging, $100K per acre.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>One Other Lake<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Dredging selected\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Being done in-house using existing labor<\/li>\n<li>Selected due to cost<\/li>\n<li>Allows equipment to be used for other activities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>Algae\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Algae blooms are a problem\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Surrounding water shed is farm area<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Have treated and will continue to treat with Copper Sulfate\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>There is no plant life in the lake.<\/li>\n<li>Hiring a consultant to grow vegetation in lake<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Activities\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Annual Christmas Tree Lighting<\/li>\n<li>Summer Concert Series, one per month<\/li>\n<li>Annual Ski Show by Ski Club, Labor Day Weekend<\/li>\n<li>Junk Yard Boat Derby, boats built from junk, similar to cardboard boat races<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Volunteerism\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Down<\/li>\n<li>Most amenities improvements handled by volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Also volunteer group raises the money for the amenity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Other\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Mailboxes are in banks of boxes, you go to pick up your mail, ie from an Association owned lot, like an RL lot.\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Identical boxes<\/li>\n<li>No posts along streets<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Driveways are all paved (asphalt or concrete), no new stone driveways, stone grandfathered in, but no stone drives were seen<\/li>\n<li>Strict rules on maintaining property\n<ol type=\"i\">\n<li>Facility was very neat and clean<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Eastside-Westside mentality.
