Cleanup Day is your opportunity to get rid of your “unusables”. This event is FREE to residents of Roaming Shores Village. There is NO LIMIT on loads, however, no commercial or landscaping vehicles will be allowed.

General Unacceptable Waste:

• Bricks, Rocks, Concrete, and Cement:

These materials are generally not suitable for standard waste collection due to their weight and composition.

• Yard and Lawn Waste:

While some areas may have separate collection programs for yard waste, it’s not usually accepted during standard clean-up days.

• Construction Materials:

Items like lumber, drywall, and other construction debris often require specialized disposal methods.

Hazardous Waste:

• Insecticides/Pesticides:

These chemicals are considered hazardous and require special handling.

• Paint:

Paint and paint cans are also hazardous and should not be disposed of with regular trash.

• Batteries:

Batteries, including those in electronics and appliances, should be recycled or disposed of properly through designated programs.

• Anti-freeze, Oil, Solvents:

These hazardous chemicals require specialized disposal and should not be placed in regular trash.

• Tires:

Tires are not usually accepted during clean-up days and should be taken to designated tire recycling centers.

• Propane Tanks:

These tanks contain pressurized gas and require special handling for disposal.

• Electronics:

Computers, monitors, and other electronic devices contain hazardous materials that require proper recycling.

Bulk Items:

• Appliances:

Refrigerators, microwaves, and other appliances often contain hazardous materials like freon and batteries that require special handling for disposal.

• Car Parts:

Items like car batteries, tires, and engine parts are generally not accepted during clean-up days.

Other Unacceptable Items:

• Dirt, Gravel, Rock, and Sod: These materials are generally not suitable for standard waste collection.

• Riding Mowers: These items are usually too large and specialized for standard clean-up days.

Goodwill of Northeast Ohio and Northwest PA will will be available during Cleanup Day to accept donations and provide tax-deductible receipts. Please review their unacceptable items.

Following the tremendous success of our annual 5K, the STARS Club is excited to host a new Half Marathon planned for Saturday, May 23, 2026, Memorial Day weekend, to kick off and celebrate Lake Roaming Rock’s 60th Anniversary!

This scenic, mostly flat course loops around beautiful Lake Roaming Rock and showcases the charm of the Roaming Shores community.

Building on the success of past races, this event is perfect for both seasoned runners and first-time half marathon participants.

This event relies heavily on donations provided by the community. Donations for the event can be dropped off at either of the following locations:

• Rome Rock Association Office, 1875 US Route 6

T-Shirt and Hoodie Orders

To assist us in our efforts, we are taking orders in advance for our annual plunge t-shirts and hoodies. T-shirts will sell for $15, zipped hoodies $35, and pullover hoodies $30 each. Payment in advance is required at the time of order and the last day we can accept an order is Feb. 20^th.  Make checks payable to RSPBC and mail to 1513 Morning Star Dr, Roaming Shores, OH 44084.  Any individual who wishes to donate to this years’ plunge, please mail your check to this same address.  Questions, 440-812-1055.

Why We Do It

The funds raised from this initiative will play a pivotal role in supporting various educational and community programs. Among the beneficiaries are the Jeffrey B. Meddock Memorial Scholarship at Pymatuning Valley Schools, which serves as a lasting tribute to an esteemed individual, and the Grand Valley Schools student programs established in memory of Emily Plickert. Additionally, the Jefferson Area Local Schools Academic Boosters will receive support, further enhancing the resources available for academic enrichment. Furthermore, the Thomas Zirkle Memorial ATECH Scholarship stands to benefit from these efforts, contributing to the advancement of technology education. Lastly, the Roaming Shores Kids’ Breakfast with Santa event will also receive assistance, ensuring the continuation of this heartwarming tradition for the community.

Along with great food and entertainment, we’re told the Christmas lights and decorations are spectacular!

Be sure to wear your favorite Christmas shirt or sweater.

As in past years, we’ll have a $5.00 gift exchange for those who would like to participate. Participation is optional and not required to attend the dinner.

It is that time of year! Tom Fleming has dropped off boxes for toys and jars for monetary donations for this year’s Toys for Tots campaign. This year’s drop off locations are: Roaming Rock Marina, Roaming Shores Village Office, Roaming Shores Association Office, Cantini’s Village Market, The Pasta Oven and the Gulf gas station located at RT46 and RT6. Anyone that would like to donate but cannot get to one of these locations, please message Tom Fleming on Facebook. Please drop off donations by December. Thank you in advance!

Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Your contributions will make a happier Christmas for less fortunate children!

The Village of Roaming Shores will have four positions on Village Council and the office of Mayor on the ballot this year. Four candidates have filed for the four available Council seats, and two candidates have filed for Mayor. The mayoral candidates are incumbent Jennie D’Amicone and Duane Helms. The term of office for these positions will run from 2026 through 2029.

Residents are invited to attend a Meet the Mayoral Candidates Night at the RomeRock Association Clubhouse on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This event will be moderated by the Ashtabula County League of Women Voters. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in writing prior to the start of the debate.

The League of Women Voters is a political grassroots network and membership organization that has worked for more than a century to empower voters and protect democracy. It is a women-led, nonpartisan organization that believes voting is a fundamental right and is dedicated to ensuring elections remain fair and unbiased.

This event is voluntary and will be conducted in a respectful and orderly manner. Come meet and learn more about your candidates for Mayor of Roaming Shores.

The polling place for Roaming Shores will temporarily be located at Village Hall, 2500 Hayford Road, Roaming Shores, Ohio 44084, on Election Day, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Trick-or-Treating in Roaming Shores will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 25th.

Halloween Costume Contest Returns!

In lieu of the Roaming Shores Halloween Parade, we’re excited to announce the return of our pre-COVID Halloween Costume Contest outside the clubhouse! Join us after Trick-or-Treating wraps up at 7:00 PM for a fun-filled evening with:

• Hot dogs
• Beverages
• Cookies
• And of course, our Costume Contest

Our Friends & Neighbors  “Fall Kick Off Dinner” is September 12th at 5 pm.

Held at the new “FOSSIL CREEK WINERY,” 5807 S. Madison Rd. (Rt. 528), Madison, Oh 44057

The winery is owned by  local brothers, Kevin & Don Jacobson who was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wrights architecture.

A special entertainment treat for us will be  60’s & 70’s songs & music, performed by James Baucco. (Marilyn’s fiance) .

The menu is fantastic but limited. So, the owners are open to us bringing our own desserts to share with our group, if we choose to. This is a chance to share your favorite dessert, but not required.  The Winery offers cheese cake on their menu.
