The tournament was held on July 6th, there were 22 teams this year. Every year friends, neighbors, and family participate, around 80 attended this year. We have great athletes and the games are very competitive. Trophies and Tee shirts were awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Jason’s aunts Linda and Karen sponsor a bicentennial raffle, it was a big success. His grandparents Dan and Helen Zygmunt donated the trophies. His siblings Josh and Amy donated the Tee shirts. A special thanks to our referee Steve Krosnowski. Between the donations to play in the tournament and the raffle $800.00 was raised for the scholarship fund. This year’s $500.00 scholarship winner was Corey Castle, a Grand Valley graduate.
1st place team: Ryan Miller, Mark Miller, and Randy Ruebel.
2nd place team: Patrick Kral, Conor MeWhinney, and Brendan MeWhinney.
3rd place team: AJ Henson, Sean Smith, and Nick Ludwig.
A SINCERE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS DAY SPECIAL

Edit: This survey has ended. Halloween this year will be Traditional Trick or Treat
Last year after the Annual Roaming Shores Trick or Treat, the idea was brought up to do a “Trunk or Treat” the following year. Several local communities have switch to this method for Halloween as a way to centralize trick or treating and have had great success. With Trunk or Treat, residents and children would meet at a designated location. Residents could pass out candy to children from their vehicles as opposed to children going door-to-door. Often times, communities would also have a party for the kids at fire halls, community rooms, etc.
This made it so kids would be safely off the roads, would not have to walk far between houses, and residents who did not receive many trick or treaters would have an opportunity to see the kids in their costumes.
The idea was that we would do the same, as there are several areas in the Shores that do not have a dense population. We’d also throw a party in the Clubhouse with snacks and spooky movies. This idea was initially met with very positive feedback, but now, closer to event, we are seeing the opposite. Many residents do not like the idea of doing away with trick or treating for several reasons including good turnout in their area, creating their own haunted houses, and not wanting to drive down to the Clubhouse when they can pass out candy from their homes.
So, what do you think, traditional trick or treating or trunk or treat? The results of this survey will settle the debate.
Will you be punished for leaving your light on? Absolutely not. Will you be turned away for not having your membership card? No. Remember, not all of Roaming Shores is in the Association.
If you have any comments, there is a space for them in the survey.
The Roaming Shores Fishing Club will be having a Clam Bake on September 21st, 3pm – 5pm at the Clubhouse.
