Immature (Juvenile) Bald Eagle Spotted

Posted on: December 13, 2011

Steve Macintyre has submitted some more photos of our local bald eagles. This time, what appears to be a newcomer. Steve wrote, "Here are two shots, unfortunately of low quality, of what I think is an immature bald eagle, based on its poor success fishing and the mottled plumage of the tail. It takes 3-5 years for an eagle to mature from mottled brown and white to brown with white head and tail. Unlike many other birds, eagles are not thought to change their plumage colors in winter.".

Click on the album below to see all of the bald eagle images submitted to us. The last 3 in the album are the most recent. Thank you as always, Steve, for the great shots!

The snow is coming. Residents should make sure their mail boxes and posts are secure enough to withstand the winter snow plowing at this time. Our drivers are highly experienced (85 years worth) and our policy is to only repair the boxes we strike, not those simply pushed aside by the snow itself. Also, please remove all vehicles, boat trailers, basketball stands, etc. from the RRA right-of-ways.
