Dear Association Members,

Dredging – We developed a Microsoft Xcell spreadsheet to tabulate operating costs and capital costs of dredging and their effect on potential future borrowing or assessments. We did this so that The Board of Directors will have all of the latest financial information as the project moves forward.

Members of the Lake Management Committee have sent letters to landowners who own property outside of the village inquiring whether or not they will sell or lease some or all of their property to us for the retention ponds. There have been some responses to those letters and very preliminary discussions have begun.

Back taxes due on buy back lots –There is a new State law that allows third parties to “buy” from the county any back taxes on properties. This will result in increased fees to the landowner (us). I was asked to meet with Dawn M. Cragon, Ashtabula County Treasurer and discuss with her a repayment plan. I did call her and discussed the topic with her. She told me there were parties canvassing the county now and deciding what unpaid taxes they wanted to buy. Once they decide which back taxes to buy, the owners will be notified and will have 30 or31 days to pay the taxes or the county would sell the unpaid back taxes to the interested third parties. We will have to pay approximately $30K to pay off our unpaid taxes.

I have received from the office, copies of several employees’ personnel files. These will be used by the Administration Committee to evaluate employee performance, salary, job descriptions and employment contracts, if any. The Administration Committee will meet in August. For your information, the committee consists of five Board Members and one non-Board Member. The recommendations of the Committee will be submitted to the board when their discussions and recommendations are complete.
